ESSMA is pleased to announce Nokia as newest Stadium Partner. Nokia provides leading end-to-end communications and analytics to create unique and exciting experiences for in-venue spectators and global audience.

“Nokia wants to add value to the ESSMA community by helping venue operators connect and optimize front- and back-office operations as well enhance the visitor experience through applications and advertising.”

Jacques Vermeulen, Director Smart Cities

The Nokia solution, including Wi-Fi, small cells and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), creates efficient connectivity that enriches fan experience by enabling interaction with the team, sponsors and services, social networking and augmented reality. At the same time the technology help in optimizing venue operations and improves cost efficiency. The data can be kept local with MEC, improving security and decreasing the need for backhaul.

A selection of projects they have been involved with:

  • VR360 for fan engagement in Khalifa Stadium, together with Ooredoo Qatar (Amir Cup final, May 2018)
  • Edge Cloud wins fans in (and outside) the Shanghai Mercedes Benz Arena
  • Telenor and Telia used Nokia’s Centralized RAN to double LTE uplink speeds at Jyske Bank Boxen arena in Denmark, letting fans quickly upload videos and images
