ESSMA Pitch Management Workshop at Amsterdam ArenA

The European Stadium & Safety Management Association (ESSMA) will gather during the Pitch Management Workshop. The event will be held in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) from 17 to 18 April at the Amsterdam ArenA.


The Amsterdam ArenA team with Paul Baas, Arjan Knottnerus and Arthur Berends will welcome delegates during the workshop. Topics during this two-day workshop include multifunctional pitches, matchday organisation, weather tracking, dealing with snow and heat, pitch data tracking, hard pitches, player injuries and more. In addition to an Amsterdam ArenA pitch tour, delegates will also have the possibility to visit the training centre of AFC Ajax.

Several speakers from Leicester City FC, AFC Ajax, Werder Bremen and the Algerian FA and more will share their pitch insights.

Amsterdam ArenA

The workshop will take place in the Amsterdam ArenA, home of Ajax AFC and the Dutch national football team. The multifunctional stadium was opened in 1996 after a construction period of three years and has a capacity of 53,748 seats and 144 extra seats for disabled fans with their companion. It is known for being the first stadium in Europe to have a retractable roof and is one of the most sustainable stadiums in the world.

The stadium hosted the Champions League final in 1998, several matches during EURO 2000 and the Europa League final in 2013.
