Crystal Palace FC have plans to upgrade their current Selhurst Park. The plans include a new five-storey stand, resulting in a stadium capacity increase from 26,000 to more than 34,000 seats. The redevelopment plans are designed by stadium architects KSS and construction costs are expected to be between €85 and 115 million.

The new stand is inspired by the original Crystal Palace, a huge glass house built on a cast-iron frame. The former stadium of Crystal Palace FC stood in the shadow of the iconic Crystal Palace exhibition in 1851. Furthermore, the new stand will include a large Eagle crest, also part of the history of Crystal Palace.

Key features of the redevelopment include:

  • Capacity in the new stand will increase from around 5,400 to 13,500
  • Improved facilities for supporters with disabilities and an increase in wheelchair space
  • A larger pitch, increased from 101.5x68m to 105x68m, to comply with FIFA and UEFA regulations
  • Premium hospitality and entertainment facilities for more than 2,500 supporters. Including a new Tunnel Club, and between 16-28 boxes, which will give members a unique vantage point as the players prepare for the match and conduct post-match interviews
  • A new museum, documenting the club’s rich history and its place in the South London community
  • New community facilities, supplementing the work of the Palace for Life Foundation
  • Improved sightlines in the Arthur Wait Stand with the removal of the TV gantry, and improved Arthur Wait concourse
  • Redevelopment of the upper Whitehorse Lane Boxes into mixed bar/box use

"We need a stadium that reflects who we are, how far we have come and where we want to go - a stadium that South London can be proud of, a home worthy of our incredible support and unique atmosphere and this great Premier League we represent.”

Steve Parish, Chairman Crystal Palace

The Main Stand is expected to remain open during construction, minimising the impact on the stadium capacity.
