The European Club Association (ECA) conducted a survey focused on Fan Entertainment in partnership with ESSMA, The European Stadium and Safety Management Association.

The results of the survey will benefit the clubs not only in better assessing the current situation, but will also act as a source of inspiration for future projects.

The key results from 126 completed surveys were divided into four thematic categories: fan involvement, fan intelligence, fan experience and fan engagement.

  • One of the outcomes of the survey was that stadium apps are available in 17% of the cases, while club apps are a reality for 60% of those surveyed.
  • We saw that online F&B ordering is not yet the ‘norm’, available in 13% of cases, while cashless payment is already a reality for exactly half of the respondents.
  • Looking forward, technological investments in stadiums are a priority for football clubs, especially in terms of connectivity and experience. Video screens (30%), Wi-Fi (30%) and club/stadium apps (29%) have been mentioned as the most immediate investments for stadiums, for those not benefitting from such services yet.
