ESSMA interviewed Jan Nöker - Event Manager at 1. FSV Mainz 05 - and Stephan Bandholz – Stadium Manager at OPEL ARENA – about their safety department and our upcoming ESSMA Safety & Security Workshop. OPEL ARENA is the host venue of our 2019 Safety & Security Workshop on 8 and 9 October during which the club will share their best practices regarding bag policies and stewarding.

“We are happy to welcome you in our OPEL ARENA at ESSMA's Saftey & Security Workshop. It is a great honour for us to be the hosting venue. We hope that you can benefit from the presentations held during the workshop and get some new ideas for your club/stadium.”

How many stewards are present on matchdays?

Depending on each matchday, there are up to 500 stewards present to guarantee a safe matchday experience for all fans.

Do you have a dedicated programme to attract new stewards?

On our website we have a dedicated application portal with more information and we attract new stewards via Facebook as well. In addition, we encourage current stewards to attract new stewards with our bonus programme.

What can ESSMA Members expect from your presentation(s)?

We would like to give an overview about our security strategy which enable us to guarantee a high degree of security during our matchdays. Our security department, with our own developed stadium bag or the communication trainings are some useful tools to increase our security.
