My ESSMA Management Trainee experience (by Mathias Van Thielen)

By August 30, 2016

Blog MathiasI finished my Master's degree in September 2015, after which I realized I had no experience in the ‘real’ world. Although I was a bit skeptic at first to do another internship before I would start job searching, I have not regretted it one single minute.

As from the first day I immediately received quite some responsibilities and although it was overwhelming at first, I received a lot of support from the entire ESSMA team. Within no time I was handling the social media accounts, writing articles, managing the website and so much more.

As part of a member activation trip I got to visit the capital of Norway, Oslo, where I was responsible for contacting the different managers of the clubs and setting up a time schedule for the stadium tours. This unforgettable trip has been a key experience for me during my time at ESSMA. During this three-day trip a colleague and I visited three different stadiums, as well as the Norwegian league and federation. This has been an unforgettable experience and was a great way for me to grow in my professional career.

For those who are still looking to gain more experience before kicking off their career or hoping to increase their network, I would strongly recommend an internship at ESSMA. It is incomparable with other internships, as you will get big responsibilities and will be involved to contribute to several projects.
